Mothers Day Giveaway Products

All the moms I know are great and amazing so I decided to do a Mothers Day Giveaway!  The products in my giveaway are quick and easy to use.  So whether you are a stay at home or working mom (both equally amazing:)) these products will be perfect for you.  I would also recommend these products for any age group. I hope you find this information helpful and Im so excited for the lucky mom that gets to try all these out next week!

Benefit Foamingly Clean Facial Wash: I've talked before about how I use to work for Benefit Cosmetics and  really came to love all of their products.  This face wash was no exception!  First of all the packaging is adorable (like ALL of the benefit product) and second of all it does a great job at removing all makeup and impurities.  I love how this product really foams up and bubbles while cleansing the skin.  It makes for a little bit of the product to go a long way!

Peter Thomas Roth Oiless Oil: This is a more high end product that can be on the more pricey side.  Everything that I have tried from this company has done what it says it will though so in my opinion it's worth every last dollar!  This is an oil that can be used as a serum or as your moisturizer.  I love that this product only has one ingredient and is preservative free.  That one and only ingredient is Squalane oil.  Most people think that it comes from a shark or olives but it is actually derived from sugarcane!  The sugarcane is evaporated, fermented, separated and purified.  This oil helps your skin with moisture, soften fine lines and wrinkles, improves texture and helps the skin more firm.  The oil may also be used sparingly on your body, cuticles and hair.

Juice Beauty CC Cream: This is a sample size but still an amazing product.  I sometimes prefer sample sizes of CC Creams first so I can so how they wear throughout the day. CC Cream stands for Color Correcting Cream and is typically a product that offers coverage as well as treats the skin.  Juice Beauty is one of my favorite all organic and cruelty free lines!  The line is mostly skin care but also has some really nice makeup products as well.  This CC Cream has 12 benefits all in one!  This product is perfect for those days that you need something quick and easy or it can be added into your everyday makeup routine.

The Juice Beauty website says it will:

  • Reduces appearance of fine lines & wrinkles
  • Broad spectrum sun protection
  • Evens skin tone
  • Smoothes uneven texture
  • Creates a radiant, glowing complexion
  • Rich in antioxidants
  • Protects with mineral SPF 30
  • Ultimate moisturizer
  • Visibly firms & improves elasticity
  • Skin perfecting color
  • Mineral tinted coverage
  • Ideal for all skin types
  • No chemical sunscreen
  • Non-nano natural sunscreen

Aveda Hand Relief:  This has been my favorite hand lotion since first using it about a year ago.  The smell is amazing but how soft it leaves my hands is even more amazing!  This lotion contains Andiroba and meadowfoam seed oils which helps hydrate and keep your skin moisturize.  It creates a barrier that allows for you to wash your hands up to thee times before wearing off.  The other key ingredient is lactic acid which helps slough away dry skin.

Last and not least my giveaway includes these adorable earrings from DBH Boutiques.  Holly is a friend of mine from high school that has started an amazing jewelry line. All of her pieces are carefully handmade by her.  I love that all the pieces seem timeless and go with just about any outfit! Its so encouraging to see a girl chasing her dreams and succeeding!  I was thrilled when she agreed to give a pair of earrings for my giveaway! I even bought a pair for myself.:)

Lush Product Review

Remember back in February when I went to lush for the first time and asked if you wanted a review on the products I got? Well here I am finally getting around to that blog! This just makes my review even more honest though because now I have used the products long enough to make an honest opinion on them.  One of the biggest mistakes people make when trying a new skin care or makeup line is deciding a week after using it that it isn't working for them.  It takes your skin 4-6 weeks to adjust to a new product line especially if you are prone to breakouts or irritation.  Using a product that is suppose to "correct" a condition with your skin (i.e.: break outs, dark spots, fine lines and wrinkles, etc)  isn't a magic potion that works the first time you try it.  I wish that was the case but sadly, it's not.  You will usually start to see some benefits after 4 weeks and then a more noticeable change after 6 weeks.  This of course can vary depending on the product.

If you've never been to a Lush store I highly recommend going to one!  The moment I walked in I knew I would be stuck in that store for awhile.  It smelled amazing and there was so many fun eye catching products!  On the Lush website they claim that their products are Organic, freshly handmade, vegetarian and free from animal testing.  I haven't done a ton of research on if that is all of their products or just certain ones but I liked that about their company as well!

Herbalism ($13.95 for 3.5 oz or $33.95 for 8.4 oz): This is an interesting face and body cleanser.  I say interesting because its not your typical bar or liquid consistency. I would describe it as a paste almost.  You take a small amount from the container, mix it with water and then apply the cleanser to your skin.  It has a grainy texture to it from the almonds that are ground into the paste.  I found the smell of this product while applying it wasn't very pleasant because of the rice vinegar extract.  After rinsing my skin there was no trace of the smell and it was smooth and clean feeling.  This is a great product for anyone with oily or blemish prone skin.  It lightly exfoliates and and cleans dirt and oil from the skin.  I would recommend using a makeup remover before this product to make sure you get everything off.  I was worried that I would go through this container rather quickly but It has been about 3 months and I still have about half left!  I like this product enough to purchase it again but with all the different hand made cleansers lush has I might end up trying something new next time!  I pulled the ingredient list from the Lush website so you can see what else is in this product.

Ingredients: Ground Almonds (Prunus dulcis)  , Kaolin  , Glycerine  ,Chlorophyllin Water (Aqua)  , Nettle, Rosemary, Rice Vinegar Extract (Urtica dioica, Rosmarinus officinalis)  ,Rice Bran (Oryza sativa)  , Gardenia Extract (Gardenia jasminoides)  , Rose Absolute (Rosa damascena)  ,Chamomile Blue Oil (Matricaria Chamomilla)  , Sage Oil (Salvia officinalis)  , Fragrance

Mint Julips Lip Scrub ($9.95 for .9 oz): This product also comes in the flavors Bubble Gum and Popcorn.  Mint julips was by far the best scent though!  Im such a sucker for lip products.  I have way to many for my own good but I didn't have any lip scrubs so I had to get this right?!  This is a great product for those dryer months or for when you want to prep your lips for a fun lipstick shade!  You wet your lips and then take a small amount of the scrub and work it around.  They told me at the store when I tried it that you can actually just lick the product off your lips when you are done since its made with all natural ingredients but i opted to brush it off with a kleenex.  This product would be so easy to make yourself and is definitely not a necessary product for most people to buy.  I will probably make my own when I run out of this one or just buy it during the winter months.  I still have lots left since I don't use it everyday so I won't be running out anytime soon!:)

Ingredients: Castor Sugar  , Cold Pressed Organic Jojoba Oil (Simmondsia Chinensis)  , Vanilla Extract (Vanilla planifolia)  , Tagetes Oil (Tagetes minuta)  , Peppermint Oil (Mentha piperita)  , *Limonene  , Flavor

Lip Service ($7.25 for .3 oz):  Theres not a lot to say about this actually.  Its a great lip balm and like I said before I definitely didn't need anymore lip products but I wanted to try this one!  I like to use this one at night before bed because its very moisturizing and doesn't have a strong scent.  They do have other scents incase you want one that smells yummy!

Ingredients: Fair Trade Shea Butter (Butyrospermum parkii)  ,Apricot Kernel Oil (Prunus armeniaca)  , Glycerine  ,Beeswax (Cera alba)  , Fair Trade Organic Cocoa Butter (Theobroma Cacao)  , Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil (Olea europaea)  , Tangerine Oil (Citrus reticulata)  , Flavor  , *Limonene  , *Linalool

I have heard rumors that they are putting a Lush store at one of the malls in Omaha so I will definitely be going back!  Let me know if you liked this blog and want to see more reviews.  Also let me know what other types of blogs you would like to see! I will be posting twice in May to make up for the months I missed! OOOPPSS!

Thanks for reading!

Best of 2014

I have been seeing a lot of these " Best of 2014" blogs and youtube videos and I love them!  I enjoy seeing what products people used and loved.  Mostly because if it's something I haven't tried it gives me a reason to try it:)  I mean how can I ignore a raving review about a lip stain or facial cleanser claiming it to be the best of 2014?  Those reviews are basically a challenge to buy the products and see for myself..right??!

I decided to jump on the bandwagon and make my own list!  This was a challenge for me.  I am a product junkie and have way to many to choose from!  So I narrowed down my list to just products thats I consistently used through out the year and of course products that I have repurchased!

I hope you find this helpful and enjoyable!

SKIN CARE

Derma e Anti-wrinkle Vitamin A Glycolic Scrub ($12): I use this exfoliator 2-3 times a week after cleansing. It has glycolic which is a nonabrasive exfoliator that sloughs off dry skin, softens wrinkles and lightens hyperpigmentation.  It also contains Apricot seed powder and papaya which helps clean out pores.  The combination of all these ingredients leaves the skin glowing and radiant! I also love this line because it is a more natural line.  There products are free of parabens, sulfates, mineral oil, lanolin, gluten, gmos and cruelty!  Holy cow thats a lot of ingredients to avoid when creating a product line!

Peter Thomas Roth Un-Wrinkle Peel Pads ($45): This is a higher end line so this peel is a little more on the expensive side. It does come with 60 peel pads though so I have made mine last about 3 months so far.  These are seriously amazing! This is a peel so you want to use them after you have cleansed your skin.  You will leave it on for around 2-5 minutes (depends on how your skin handles the peel) and then rinse well.  These will exfoliate, clarify and firm the skin.  In other words help minimize pores, fine lines and wrinkles and uneven skin tone.  See! I told you these were amazing! The peel is a 20% glycolic and lactic acid but also has chamomile and green tea extract to help calm the skin from the peel.  You can use this daily, but I choose to use it 1-2 times a week so I don't go through them to fast:)

Aveda Hydrating Lotion ($33): This is a great quick absorbing moisturizer.  I use it in my morning skin care routine.  I'm typically rushing in the mornings so its nice to have something that absorbs quickly so I can get right into my makeup routine.  This face lotion contains jojoba and coconut derived moisturizers, lavender and chamomile to help calm and condition the skin and organic aloe-vera to soothe the skin.  Aveda Firming Eye cream ($47):  Its so hard for me to find eye cream because of how sensitive my eyes are.  My eyes almost always swell and get irritated after trying eye creams.  So I was so excited when this one worked for me! It moisturizes, smooths fine lines and wrinkles and reduces the appearance of puffiness. So basically it does everything:)

MAKEUP

Laura Mercier Primer ($33):  I got both of these items later in the year around October and I wish I would have found them way sooner!  The primer is oil free, light weight, moisturizing and keeps my makeup in place.I think its so important for our makeup to have beneficial ingredients.  Makeup sits on our skin for 8+ hours some days so we want it to have some nourishing ingredients! This primer contains vitamins A, C and E.  These vitamins can help protect our skin from the aging affect of the environment. Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Flawless Fluid ($48): This is a very thin liquid foundation.  Its oil free and light weight but its also a long wear and fuller coverage.  I have never used anything like it.  From what I've read its basically just color pigment and reflective waters, so make sure to shake it very well before using.

Mac Pro Longwear Concealer ($22): I love this for under eye concealer.  Its full coverage and has a natural matte finish.  It has anti-creasing properties but I still set it with a setting powder.

Benefit Hoola Bronzer ($28):  I worked for Benefit for a little over a year so I have a love for a lot of their products!  This is the perfect bronzer for contouring.  I'm usually not a fan of the brushes that come with products and would prefer to use my own.  But  I actually think the brush that comes with it is perfect for sculpting out the face and blending out the product!

Benefit They're Real Mascara ($23):  I have honestly gone through at least 5 of these mascaras!  Its going to lengthen and volumize the lashes.  I do two coats of this and it looks like false lashes! Its water-resistant so it won't smudge throughout the day.  You will need a makeup remover to get this off..fare warning!

Nourish-mint lip definer in the shade fire maple (20):  This has been my go to red lip for awhile now.  I love a good classic red lip.  It can dress up even the most basic makeup look and can be worn on almost any occasion (actually ANY occasion if you want my personal opinion:).  I actually outline and shade in my entire lip with this. It has great color and a beautiful matte finish.  They use candlelilla and carnuba to help reduce feathering and increase wear.  They also use jojoba oil and coconut to help keep the lips moisturized.

Happy New Years Eve!

365 days ago I made a new years resolution to start a blog on one of my passions in life. Making resolution is always so fun, easy, and exciting at first!  You buy a new calendar, maybe a notebook to journal in and plan out exactly how to reach your new goals.  Well, then life happens and you move to a new city, start a new job, try to make time for friends and family and before you know it December is here again and the new goals were forgotten. Okay that doesn't happen to everyone and it doesn't happen to me with all my goals but it did happen to happen with this one.   I have been working on my website for awhile now and trying to figure out how I want it to look.  The website is not quite the way I want it to look yet but I decided to stop stalling and use my last day of 2014 to get that blog post up that I had planned to put up months ago:) So what better way to start it off than with a fun glittery New Years Eve look! I hope you enjoy and stay tuned for next years post in December 2015. Just kidding. I would like to post Makeup/beauty tips and looks, product reviews and whatever else I come up with once a week.  But to be more realistic I set a goal of once a month

All Products for eyes, lips and cheeks listed below!  This is a great look for someone who loves glitter and a bold lip! Even if this isn't up your alley, NYE is the perfect time to try something new.  There will be so much glitter everywhere you'll blend right in:)

For the crease I blended out Taupe (an obvious go to) from the Lorac Pro palette.  Then I mixed Espresso and black for the outter V of the eye.

For the glitter I used the Too Faced Glamour Dust in the shade Blue Angel.  I mixed it with the Sally Girl gel adhesive (This is from Sally's Beauty Supply. I think this is only $1.00!)

For Blush I used the Lorac Pro Cheek Stain in Ruby Rouge.  This gives the perfect rosey cheek for winter!

I had so much fun putting together this look! Let me know if you would like to see more post like this.  I didn't include my foundation, primer ect. this time so let me know if that's stuff you would like to see. In the future I would love to have a model for the makeup tutorial but on short notice I made it work. Thankfully my husband was able to get some pictures after he got home from work because other wise all the pictures would have looked like this....---->

And these are the ones I thought were kinda cool...the others were just a blur. I can only get better at this from here right?!

Thanks for checking this out!

over and out,
